What is Septoplasty?
The septum is the wall of cartilage and bone that divides your nasal passages, and when it is significantly off-centre, a condition called a deviated septum, it can restrict airflow through one or both nostrils. Septoplasty straightens and repositions the septum to improve breathing. Working entirely through the nostrils, with no external incisions or visible scarring, your surgeon carefully trims, repositions, or replaces the deviated cartilage and bone to open the nasal passage. The procedure is performed under general or local anaesthesia with sedation, and typically takes forty-five minutes to an hour.
