Hair Transplant & Restoration
A procedure that moves healthy hair follicles to areas of thinning or hair loss for natural, permanent regrowth.
What is Hair Transplant & Restoration?
Hair transplant surgery involves relocating healthy hair follicles, usually from the back or sides of the scalp where hair is genetically resistant to thinning, to areas where hair has thinned or receded. The two most common techniques are Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), where individual follicles are removed and transplanted one at a time, and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), where a thin strip of scalp is removed and divided into follicular grafts. Both are performed under local anaesthesia, so you remain awake and comfortable throughout. The transplanted follicles continue to grow hair naturally in their new location, because they retain the genetic characteristics of where they came from.
Why is this procedure performed?
- Male or female pattern hair loss
- A receding hairline or thinning crown
- Hair loss following an injury, burn, or scarring
- A desire to restore a fuller, more natural hairline
- Thinning that has not responded to medical treatments alone
- Sufficient healthy donor hair available at the back or sides of the scalp
How does this procedure help?
Transplanted hair typically sheds within the first few weeks, a normal part of the process, before regrowing gradually over the following months. Most patients see noticeable new growth by four to six months, with fuller, natural-looking results continuing to develop for up to twelve to eighteen months. Because the transplanted follicles are naturally resistant to further thinning, the results are considered permanent, offering a lasting improvement in hair density and confidence.
